Handspun Hats

I like to use this simple but versatile pattern for knitting hats with my handspun yarns. It works for just about any size and thickness of yarn. You will need to knit a test swatch first.

Here are some hats that I've made using this hat pattern:

Child Size Merino Wool Hat

Ashland Bay Merino Wool Top
Colours:

Tartan Green
Laurel

Knitting Gauge over 2 Inches
10 stitches
12 rows
Cast on 68 stitches

Angora and Wool Hat

This hat was knit using a 3 ply yarn.
1 ply - white Romney
1 ply - Grey wool (breed unknown - local)
1 ply - French angora

Knitting gauge over 2 inches:
6 stitches
8 rows

Cast on 62 stitches

Men's Wool Hat

This hat was knit using a thicker spun 2 ply yarn.
Natural Brown Wool
Dyed Romney wool - Blue and Dark Grey
Knitting gauge over 2 inches:
6 stitches
8 rows

Cast on 68 stitches

Merino Wool Hat

2 ply Ashland Bay merino top
Colour: Sandalwood

Knitting gauge over 2 inches:
8 stitches
12 rows

Cast on 74 stitches
