Lee's Surrender

The pattern is called Lee's Surrender, and is a reproduction of a historical pattern used in the foot hills of Tennesee in the 1800's. It's in non-traditional colors of hunter green and burgundy, but it matches my decor, so what the heck!

This coverlet has been almost a year in the making. I started winding the warp (1,080 threads) while at hunting camp! Hauled in my warping board on the back of a fourwheeler ATV and wound warp while the guys played poker!

Warped up and sleyed on the floor loom in the loft in the spring of 2000, but pretty much ignored it during weekends of camping, took the table loom along instead.

Wove it up in three panels, meaning to have a center one, but realized I made a grave error in pattern about 40 inches back, so just started over the second panel again. But with the shortened warp, now the coverlet was destined to be a two panel one as opposed to a three panel one. But it still looks pretty. I used the last panel as a runner on the top of my Grandmother's cedar chest at the end of our bed.

I did some pickup weave in the corner to add my *K. PFUNDTNER 2001* as all coverlets should be properly named and dated.
