PICASSA

Guild Weaving Project

Sometime ago I mentioned our guild project, where everyone received four balls of yarn each a different color, and the challenge was to weave something with these four colors, adding more yarns and colors if needed. I decided I'd do a pillow cover and here are a few pictures of my "work in progress."

1. Here are the four colors we were given.

2. A 2 yard warp, with some purple, lavender and metallic yarns added. Also some different shade of red.

3. My weft was a dark green cotton. What a way to kill a radiant warp! My weave is a network drafted twill designed by Ingrid Boesel. The bright colors with such short floats dimmed significantly! Still, the total effect isn't too bad.

4. Here's what the pillow will look like. The fabric is only draped around the 20" pillow. I bought some reddish purple velvet for the backing and will make a thick cord to go around the edges.

If I can get some pictures taken, I'll post the results of our other guild members. You should see the gorgeous things they came up with!"
