Training

We are homesteaders, retired RN and mechanic - I am involved with 4-H, and do heritage demonstrations at 1840 florida cracker (working) farm on a regular basis; also, am a school volunteer and do demos at schools - all this about spinning, weaving, quilting - where clothes REALLY come from. Have learned mostly 'by guess and by gosh', with some very patient assistance from accomplished spinners and weavers :).

Loom Weaving

while i do not offer 'classes' in the 'classical' sense, i often find my self 'extrapolating' my demonstrations with folks who want to learn more about using a drop spindle, a wheel, or a loom.

Hand Spinning

same as above :)

Dyes

will do demonstrations at morningside nature park in gainesville, florida - the 276 acre site of the working 1840 florida cracker farm.

We, urban and I, have homesteaded our twenty acres for over twenty-five years, raising three children on 'homegrown' milk, cheese, butter, eggs, beef and pork; with assorted turkeys, geese, rabbits to fill in the corners! spinning and weaving seem to fit right in - we have woods and a creek, owls and chuck-will's widows to sing us to sleep, and bluebirds and cardinals to wake us up. a great big garden - by late summer, we are praying for the great bean fairy to come pull everything up!
