All our rya kits are individually handmade. The rya backing is specially woven on a floor loom. Each of the rya yarns is hand-dyed specifically for the individual kit, making each rug unique.
The Rya Rugs can be ordered in either kit form or woven. Please enquire for pricing of completed rugs.

 | Tree of Life
A recurrent theme in the Rya is the Tree of Life. The Tree of Life was traditionally woven for the Bride and Groom to celebrate their wedding day.
You may select your choice of background colours: natural white, dark blue, or dark red. The flowers on the Trees can be all one colour (e.g. Yellow - shown) or many different hand-dyed colours.

"Ikkuna" - Windowpanes
Many of the original Finnish ryas used simple, geometric designs, squares, diamonds, and floral shapes.
These windowpanes of colour, feature hand-dyed yarns. Each block is a different shade, surrounded by dark grey-coloured wool. The arrangement of the coloured blocks is left to the maker of the rug, making each Rya a true original.
